Across the planet Fillipinos charge US troops with rape. their spkeswoman says the US is raping the planet.

Yet the supposed democrats are so slow to challenge the administration about the war.

I am not even confident that Blair will be stopped from getting his 90 days detention.

Perhaps someone should tell him to stop using the phrase "I have no doubt." From his lips, it stands for nothing but stubborn resistence to truth.

Hans Christian Andersen understood bad rulers. 'The Emperor's New Suit' doesn't end with everyone acclaiming the little boy for telling the truth. It ends with the emperor and his officials refusing to admit their mistake.

I've laid my hands on additional material, which Andersen failed to publish, describing what happened after the imperial procession was over.

The talk-show host Bill O'Reilly yelled, 'Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!' at the little boy. Calling the boy a nut, he threatened to go to the boy's house and 'surprise' him.

Fox News repeatedly played up possible finds of imperial clothing, then buried reports discrediting these stories. Months after the naked procession, a poll found that many of those getting most of their news from Fox believed that the emperor had in fact been clothed.

Imperial officials eventually admitted that they couldn't find any evidence that the suit ever existed, or that there had even been an effort to produce a suit. They insisted, however, that they had found evidence of wardrobe-manufacturing-and-distribution-related program activities.

After the naked procession, pro-wardrobe pundits denied that the emperor was at fault. The blame, they said, rested with the C.I.A., which had provided the emperor with bad intelligence about the potential for a suit.

Even a quick Web search shows that before the procession, those same pundits had written articles attacking C.I.A. analysts because those analysts had refused to support strong administration assertions about the invisible suit.

After a terrible day for Blair yesterday we in Blairy England can only guess at the language inside No 10.

What makes me want to pour out obscenities is the endless litany of "honest, decent, integrity, blah blah blah" about Blunkett.

He has been forced again to resign because he is dishonest. He ignores the rules. He then ignores repeated reminders that he must follow the rules.

Butler exposed Blair as a much bigger liar, it is true. He simply decided it was not his job to say so explicitly.

Therefore it is true that Blears and Blunkett are pure as the driven snow compared to their boss.

But if bare face nonsense like this is acceptable in our political life then we are all in a tail spin to destruction.

"Go fuck yourselves" is what Blair is telling us all as he hunkers down for the next assault on his attempts to deform our country.

One very happy note. The mental health bill that had no support from any branch of the mental health services, and which would have sent people to jail for having the wrong kind of personality, has been quietly dropped.

It was one small but significant victory over totalitariansim.

The war on terror was always an unwinable war.
I am not sure why the Clintonites are coming up with this nonsense.
Even if the US invaded every country on earth, (they have troops in 120 already) they could never overcome terrorism , which is about rage in peoples' hearts.
The language of "war" is simply absurd and inappropriate.
But it has been an excuse for wars of aggression, torture and violation of human rights which can only generate more terrorists in the world.

The only victory over terrorists is a victory for peace negotiation and sweet reason.
